In Color has published a second coffee table book to compliment our 2013 publication about Santa Barbara's annual Old Spanish Days - Fiesta celebration. This book has the same measurements and page count as Fiesta, and will be ready for purchase in June, 2015.
Featuring the photography and design of In Color principal, A. Arthur Fisher, this book incorporates 13 years of Summer Solstice Celebration photography, and it includes chapters about each aspect of the event: float building, pre-parade preparations, the widely-cherished parade and the events at Alameda Park. The book's text is written by Santa Barbara native, Jenna Tico, and the foreword was provided by the Summer Solstice Celebration organization. Combined with Fiesta, this pair make a complete set of the two largest annual, summer celebrations in the county.
In Color is happy to announce the arrival of our first big coffee table book. Although we've worked on books more substantial than Fiesta, The Celebration of Old Spanish Days, this book represents the first major book published exclusively by In Color.
The book features photography and design by In Color principal, A. Arthur Fisher, and it represents 11 years of hard work.
If you are located in the Santa Barbara area, you can find the book at most local bookstores. You can also check it out online at a website we also developed exclusively for the book, celebratefiesta.com.
Unfortunatley, the funding for my big coffee table book, Fiesta, fell through. So, I decided to take the project to the community for "crowd-funding."
I was orignially buiding out the funding project on Kickstarter.com, but I quickly discovered that they were not going to allow the flexibility I needed to work this project. The main deal-breaker was their rule preventing benefit to a non-profit, but there was also a rule preventing "bulk" sales of more than ten items in a pledge package.
I quickly found IndieGoGo.com to be a fine substitute and ported the entire site over. Now, here we are. Just a day and a half into the funing project, and I've already hit over 16% of the $20,000 goal. In reality, I'd really like to raise $30,000 to print enough books to make the project not just fasible but also viable.
