In Color and the Santa Barbara Bowl have completed our three-year project to produce a large timeline of all the concerts that have taken place at the Bowl since they began hosting such performances in 1978.
The project began as an idea by Art Fisher, house photographer for the Bowl, which has dozens of historic concert photos backstage. The location of this amazing photography is odd since it is only visible to the performing artists and backstage personnel but not to the patrons who come to see the concerts. The project was conceived to bring some of these historic images into pubic light, where the patrons can enjoy them.
As the idea of the project matured, we decided to add a list of all the performances. The layout as suggested by Mr. Fisher was to span four 40x60 inch metal panels. The background would be a photo of the crowd and venue during a sold-out show, and it would span all four panels. Then each panel would have two columns, listing shows on each vertical edge, and an array of photos from select shows listed therein.
The project is now complete and installed and documents over 700 concerts from 1978 through 2011 with over 70 photos.
We started this project in late 2009 and finally installed it this year in mid August. The entire project was produced by In Color and funded by The Brittingham Family Foundation. Be sure to check it out in the public hallway tunnel that goes under the stage. The project is located between the men's and women's restrooms.
In Color has designed a logo for an upcoming web portal for outrigger canoe paddlers. The website will be called Liliu.co.
The name is derrived from the world's largest long distance canoe race, called, The Queen Lili'uokalani Canoe Race. This anual race takes place in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii, and it was named after the queen, daughter of King Kamehameha, the first king of the Hawaiian Islands.
Paddlers refer to this race by its nickname, Lili'u. The logo was designed by In Color principal, Art Fisher. It consists of five canoe paddles, arranged in a manner to depict a plumeria, a flower commonly used in Hawaiian leis, and one that is seen widespread througout the Hawaiian Islands.
In Color is currently producing garments, hats and stickers with the logo. They will be for sale on Liliu.co.

Together through their subsidiary, In Color Digital Communities, Tom Widroe and Art Fisher received the UCSB Recreational Sports' Pioneer Award for 2012.
Rec Sports has recognized Mr. Widroe and Mr. Fisher for their contribution as pioneers in creating GauchosPlay.com, a website portal for users and faculty of their department. Together with department head, Paul Lee and a team of avid student employees, in 2008 In Color built and deployed a massive website for their benefit.
Since then, the site has undergone major revisions, and with several "student webmaster" teams spanning four years, the site has grown to become a indispensable resource for the Rec Sports department. GauchosPlay.com hosts over a thousand different pages of valuable content, including forms, schedules, rules, facility pages, and contact information for dozens of Sport Club, Intramural Sports and Adventure Club departments. It's truly an enterprise-class website.
There to present the award, inducting Mr. Widroe and Mr. Fisher into the Rec Sports Hall of Fame, were student web masters, Rochelle Farnum, John Batikian and Zak Weinberg.
Bradford Brown, Esq., is excited about the "go live" of his new website. This site was a collaborative effort. In Color and Vox Media provided project management, design and programming skills, while Mr. Brown solicited his own contacts for technical writing and photogrpahy. What may look like a simple little site, is actually a culmination of a tremendous amount of precise communication.
Mr. Brown commented, "Awesome: Thank you very much. This is very exciting for me... I think it's time to celebrate."
In Color is happy to have been able to have been part of this project. The new website is online at www.bradfordbrownlaw.com.

In Color is happy to announce the arrival and installation of a new Large Format giclée (ink jet, fine art) printer. The brand new iPF8300 has replaced our iPF8000.
Among the benefits that came with this upgrade includes a new 12-color ink set called, LUCIA EX. These new inks not only produce a significanly larger color gamut, they offer better abrasion resistance and less metamerism. The new printer hardware also utilizes improved printheads and better paper handling.
We immediately noticed brighter colors when we printed some samples for the Santa Barbara Bowl which included dramatic concert lighting. Previously difficult to obtain blues jummped off the page. The results are phenominal! This machine truely is one of the finest fine art printers on the market. We continue to offer prints up to 44 inches wide in almost unlimited lengths.
All prints made for our online stores (including GregYoungPublishing.com) are now produced with the new iPF8300.
In Color principal, A Arthur Fisher, has been named the senior photographer for Santa Barbara's favorite outdoor venue, the Santa Barbara Bowl. Though Mr. Fisher has been shooting the venue and its events for over eight years now, his position there has been escalated to replace the amazingly talented, Larry Mills, who shot at there for over a decade.
Mr. Fisher is very excited about his new position.
In Color Digital Communities is please to announce the release of GauchosPlay.com 2.0.
This fully-updated version of their website incorporates a Content Construction Kit (CCK), allowing enterprise-class addressability for multi-departmental expandability, clad with clean new look. GP2 begins a new era for UCSB Rec Sports, allowing each department its own section of the site with sub-category control for each of the sports & programs which fall under it. For example, every Sport Club will have the ability to control the content for its own Micro-Site, including galleries, blogs, news, schedules and rosters.
This is a huge leap forward from the first version of the Gauchos Play website with which we went live two years ago. Tom Widroe and Art Fisher worked closely with student webmasters and coordinators, John Batikian and Rochelle Farnum, to make this site a strong foundation for future growth. Currently in its beta form, we expect GP2 to be feature and content rich by the end of Fall Quarter 2010.
Included in GP2 beta is a Google Schedule, Social Networking (integrated with Facebook Connect) and a couple dozen micro site, comprehensively incorporated with all the original content from version 1.0 of the site. UCSB Rec Sports Director, Paul Lee, is ecstatic:
Just a quick note to say "thanks" for your continual involvement and contributions to UCSB Rec. Sports. Also, thanks for always having the best interest of our students at heart!
All the best,
Paul Kuan Lee
Director of Recreational Sports
In Color is pleased to announce the "Go Live" of GregYoungPublishing.com.
Greg Young Publishing is a internationally reputed publisher and licensor of top-quality fine art. As a client of ours for nine years, In Color was excited to take Mr. Young's website from a basic online catalog to a multi-faceted web presence.
The new site is built on a state-of-the art Content Management System (CMS), integrated with a Shopping Cart and Content Construction Kit (CCK). The CMS hosts the basic structure and Shopping Cart system. There is a feature-rich online store which currently accepts credit cards via Authorize.net. Soon we'll add PayPal checkout to accept bank transfers in addition to the standard fare of credit cards. The integrated CCK hosts the online catalog of fine art for licensing.
While all sections of the site are easily editable from the front end by Mr. Young and his staff, the CCK's catalog is exceptionally suited for this purpose.
Over the coming weeks, we will be adding several additional artists to the store. Also, we'll be adding a "light box" feature to the licensing section to allow potential licensees to collect images suitable for their projects and submit the group for pricing in one easy step.
The Licensing Request form collects user-entered data securely into a database, where it is utilized by the publisher.
An extensive Search Engine Optimization campaign will begin in a few weeks after the store and licensing catalog are more completely populated.
It's hard to believe that the most historical restaurant in Santa Barbara, Joe's Cafe, had no website up until last week!
Via our sister company, Vox Media Studios, In Color was proud to publish this jewel of local history. Partner, Duncan Westley, meticulously collected a precise accounting of Joe's Cafe's spectacular past with prose, photos and a detailed timeline while Art Fisher worked on programming the look and feel.
The accompanying Facebook Fan Page collected friends fast, zipping past a thousand in just a week.
UPDATE: This site is now comprehensively complete with the addition of an integrated PayPal store for all Joe's Cafe merchandise.
One of the highest grossing restaurants in the state is our local, beloved fresh seafood restaurant/bar, Brophy Bros. This Boston-style clam bar is located a top our beautiful harbor here in Santa Barbara and has one of the most spectacular views one can find while he sips Bloody Mary's and slurps down tasty clam chowder.
Through our sister company, Vox Media Studios, In Color is happy to announce the freshest thing in town: a complete makeover of brophybros.com. The new website garners a couple thousands page views per week and is helpful to locals as well as out-of-towners. The live harbor webcam will let you know when to hurry on down, while dozens of links populate the Explore Our Neighborhood area, providing helpful information for those needing accommodations or other things to do when they come visit town (either the Santa Barbara or Ventura locations).
When In Color designed LabTracker..com for Ground Zero Software about four years ago, it was one of our first high-profile websites built around a Content Management System (CMS). Since that time, CMS technology has come a long way, maturing to the point of mainstream acceptance in the professional website deployment sector.
Today we went live with the first major refresh of LabTracker.com. There was initially a major rush to update the site, yet we still decided to start from scratch and re-build the new site from the ground up. Under the direction of John Hollis, technical writer for Ground Zero Software, we kicked this entire site out in the course of a very long weekend. This is a testament to the fact that not only has CMS technology has become predictable and mature, but also that we at In Color are very well versed and efficient in working in this environment. Needless to say that GZS's CEO was very happy.
Of course, we don't recommend that you deploy an entire website on this type of schedule. But if you find yourself in a time-sensitive bind, you can count on In Color to keep the ball moving forward  on your design project. We specialize in getting it done right the first time.
Through our sister company, Vox Media, In Color is proud to announce the "go live" of a new website for General Racing, LTD. This site was sort of rushed in anticipation of increased traffic as a result of this week's Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races. Vox Partner, Duncan Westley, and General Racing director, Doug Earle, agreed that General Racing needed a more modern web presence in time for this week's monumental races, which are expected to bring 40 thousand or more visitors.
In any case, this site is an example of what Vox Media can produce in just over a week.
After this week's races, we will focus a bit more on GeneralRacing.com, adding a more comprehensive information about the company and the events it manages.
UPDATE: at the request of company management, we have taken down their Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races website and folded it into this General Racing site. This site is now much more comprehensive.
In Color is proud to announce our new ECommerce website, KerneErickson.com. This online store utilizes some of the latest and greatest of a top notch CMS integrated with a state-of-the-art, open source shopping cart system. No licensing fees necessary.
Coupled with the release of the new website is a Facebook fan page. We've also incorporated the fan page into KerneErickson.com.
Kerne Erickson is a world renown painter with a retro style that brings us back to what feels like a better place and time. His store will sell all kinds of apparel, fine art prints, books, cards, and other branded merchandise.
Through our sister company Vox Media Studios, In Color is proud to announce the offical Go Live of a completely updated website for General Racing's annual event, the Rolex Monterey Historics Automobile Races, www.montereyhistroic.com. Currently in its 36th year, this event brings a worldwide fan base to decend on the Laguna Seca Raceway. If you are a race car fanatic, you will absolutely love this event which incorporates dozens of different races, each featuring historic cars from noteworthy eras.
Just wanted to say a huge "Thank you" for getting the web site completed and launched within time and budget. I truly appreciate all the effort put forth by both you [Duncan] and Art to get this accomplished - especially within our limited timeframe. -- Doug Earle
Soon we will be begin construction of completely new sites for General Racing and their other events.
