Today In Color went live with a new website for QuantAA. Dr. Ruth Fisher is ready to release her new book Winning the Hardware-Software Game and expects to get a large boost in traffic on her company's website.
When the book hits resellers, In Color will add an Amazon store to this site for easy purchase and checkout, allowing Dr. Fisher to receive a commission from Amazon as well as from her publisher.
The previous site was designed by In Color in 2002. The Internet has changed since then. Utilizing cutting edge CSS, the new site represents a fresh look and utilizes a Content Management System (CMS), so Dr. Fisher can easily make updates without the need for technical assistance.
Alumni Tom Widroe and Art Fisher have secured a contract to provide a user community and reference web site for the UCSB Gauchos Recreational Sports Department. GauchosPlay.com has been in development for nearly six months and is now live as a public beta. Department Head Paul Lee and his staff at Rec Sports--including Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs and Adventure Sports--are all very excited about this new resource.
This site was the brainchild of Tom Widroe and recently deceased student Chad Briner. Mr. Widroe has been a long time associate of In Color. In Color has formally entered the "online user community" space with the introduction of GauchosPlay.com, and Mr. Widroe has been appointed Managing Partner of Digital Communities.
We expect to go live with version 1.0 by the end of this year!
"We are quite proud of this new design. By the end of the year, we hope to have added a complete section for the theatre's intriguing and sometimes crazy history," said Art Fisher, site designer.
If you are interested in sponsoring this site, please contact Tom Widroe .
A Arthur Fisher, principal of In Color, has been selected by Old Spanish Days to be the official Old Spanish Days - Fiesta photographer.
As Mr. Fisher persues the production and publication of a coffee table photography book dedicated to Fiesta, a selection of his images will also be used by OSD to promote Fiesta, Santa Barbara's annual celebration which has been taking place the first week of August, each year since 1924.
Mr. Fisher anticipates that his book will be officially endorsed by OSD and will be published in Winter 2007/2008. Check out his website which contains a gallery of some of his best work.
In Color completes graphics for the Fifth Annual Black Tie Oscars Party.
This year the Annual Black Tie Oscars Party in Santa Barbara is being co-sponsored and co-hosted by In Color. The proceeds will go to benefit the Sarah House, a shelter for the needy who are terminally ill or affected by AIDS.
Graphics included for this fundraiser include a graphic designed for mass email, a website with detailed information and photos from last year's party, printed tickets and a ballot for the pool. We are happy to provide our assistance for this worthy cause. Please contact us if you are interested in making a charitable donation or attending the event.
In Color was recently commissioned to create high-end giclée prints from original film by renown photographer, Leigh Wiener. The images were hand selected by John Carter Cash and Devik Wiener for the Cash family's personal collection.
The aging film, showing the distress of forty years in storage, was scanned at a very high resolution. Art Fisher was chosen for his expertise in making such images come back to life. Final output was produced on our Epson 9800 for beautiful giclée prints that will be appreciated for 150+ years.
We know the Cash family will be happy with these newly discovered images, depicting their legendary father in some of his best years.
This festival, timed in conjuction with his birthday, is a celebration of the life of Bob Marley and the genre of music he inspired. Produced by Moss Jacobs Presents in association with Ragga Muffins Proudctions and various other entities, it will run on five different days and feature 24 different groups of musicians. The celebration will run two days at the Long Beach Arena, and one day each at the ipayOne Center, San Diego, the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium and San Francisco's Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.
In Color has nearly completed design work for the festival's graphics, including posters, flyers, postcards, web and email graphics, newspaper & magazine advertisments, laminates, and T-shirts. This year we are also adding a 12 page program to the mix. This is a big job that has been awarded to In Color for the fifth consecutive year.
When GZS needed to update their web presence, they turned to In Color. Together with JWHollis Corporate Writing Services, In Color transformed the old “product brochure” website into a new information portal, insuring that GZS remains dominant.
Modeled after In Color's website, the new labtracker.com portal is now live, and In Color and GZS are focusing on the next stage: bringing their user forum online. There are hundreds of Lab Trackerof users just waiting to exchange ideas in the forums.
The last phase in the supercharged web presence process will be to finish installation of the new Help Desk software. This state-of-the-art software will integrate with the website, allowing paid-support users to initiate trouble tickets online. Lab Tracker technical support staff from all over the country will be able to track, manage and assign support services via the central database which controls this system. All closed trouble tickets will result in an entry into a fully-searchable knowledge base, further enabling GZS clients while saving the support team considerable time and revenue.
The Stylus Pro 9800 is Epson's latest release of Fine Art printing machines. Capable of output up to 44 inches wide, the 9800 is the most versatile printer in Epson's line. Critics have acclaimed this machine the highest-quality fine art printer available.
The 9800 makes the following improvements over the previous flagship model, the 9600: higher-resolution output, up to a 50% improved print longevity, wider color gamut, even smoother gradations in fine color transitions, especially in black and white prints. The 9800 utilizes the new Ultrachrome K3 inset which offers both a larger color gamut and a third gray cartridge. This ink set now contains Black, Light Black and Light Light Black cartridges, which coupled together with the Light Cyan and Light Magenta produce some of the most amazing black and white prints available.
Ask to see some samples, or purchase an image from the In Color Store, as all our prints are now made with the new 9800.
The next piece of fine art equipment we'll be adding to our arsenal is a liquid laminate coater. This machine will be used primarily for putting a layer of a varnish-like coating on printed on canvas, protecting the surface from handling and the elements. Canvas printed on our Epson 9800 and coated with an archival coating will last in excess of 150 years in standard gallery conditions!
In Color has successfully installed 15 double-sided posters and three single-sided posters at Bargain Network to inform employees of a new employment referral program called Refer a Friend. The program was conceived by Tom Widroe, Manager of Operations at Bargain Network, and it directs existing employees to refer friends to the BargainJobs.com website to win valuable prizes when their friends become employed at Bargain Network.
"As one walks down the main aisle-way, he is greeted by the 18"x24" signs, consecutively hanging a dozen feet apart. Each sign has both a unique message and a consistent message and is designed to inform or entertain. In Color did a very professional job of design, printing and installation. I've already gotten plenty of good comments."
In order to communicate a consistent message, the signs were designed after the Refer A Friend cards (business card size) which were created by Tom Mattson at ISD Works. All in all, the job was a great success.
Fully updated website is database driven and keyword searchable.
www.artfisher.com has been redesigned to be easily updated on a regular basis with new images. As images are entered into the database and key-worded, they are immediately available to web users, who can find specific images by searching for particlular words or phrases in the image's keywords and titles.
Although, from a technical viewpoint, the site is currently functioning nicely, their is still work to be done in assuring that the site's images have accurate, descriptive titles and keywords. Now that the majority of the programming work is done, In Color is assisting in building and populating the database. Make sure to check the site for regular updates and new, interesting images.
Among the other planned updates to the site include a user-rating system, similar to the Netflix rating system. This feature will allow the site to regularly prune the database so that it includes only images which users like.
Also note that many artfisher.com images will be added to the In Color Store for sale as fine art prints!
Through exploitation of In Color's seasoned experience with the creation of Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs), In Color was able to assess the needs of both GZS programmers and Lab Tracker users to design an appropriate new look and feel. We belive that an ergonomic GUI that utilizes color, graphic icons, rollovers, and proper sectional layout will significantly enhance the user's experience and make them more efficient. Typical Lab Tracker users track hundreds or thousands of patines, so it's important to make the GUI an effective tool that seens to become transparent to their important work.
Together with JWHollis Corporate Writing Services, In Color has started the process of updating the LabTracker website. We hope to go live with the website in late September. (see related story)
